Tailwheel training in a Cessna 170B.
Hours Required
Tailwheel training will meet and exceed the additional training for tailwheel airplanes required by FAR 61.31(i).
Training will include at least the following:
- Normal and crosswind takeoffs and landings
- Wheel landings
- Go-around procedures
- Softfield Takeoffs and landings
- Shortfield Takeoffs and landings
I have found that this endorsement takes between 7 – 10 hours of flight training depending on proficiency coming into the training. For planning purposes, expect it to take around 50 landings to get proficient in both 3 point and wheel landing technique.
Cost
Plan for this endorsement to cost between $1500 – $2500 depending on individual ability.
