The training for Commercial Pilot Certificate complies with the Federal Aviation Regulations Part 61 and is done in a single engine airplane (Cessna 172M) and will allow someone to act as Pilot in Command (PIC) of a single engine airplane and fly for hire.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language
- Complete training on the aeronautical knowledge areas
- Pass the required knowledge test
- Received flight training from an authorized instructor
- Pass a practical test
Hours Required
Must have logged at least 250 hours of flight time that consists of at least:
- 100 hours in powered aircraft, of which 50 must be in airplanes
- 100 hours of pilot-in-command flight time, which includes at least
- 50 hours in airplanes; and
- 50 hours in cross-country flight of which at least 10 hours must be in airplanes
- 20 hours of flight time from an authorized instructor
- 10 hours of solo flight time in a single engine airplane

This varies greatly depending on airplane rental or using your own airplane to gain the flight hours required.
